SCENE REPORT: WISCONSIN
RECAP OF THE MADISON STOP ON THE EIY SPRING (INTO ACTION) TOUR
The Madison/Milwaukee date was the only one we couldn’t find bands or a venue for. How sad is that — especially considering that I got into my local punk/underground scene IN Madison, way back in 1999/2000? Of course, it was graduation weekend, and the one all-ages venue we were talking to already had a show booked that night. But Milwaukee? What’s the deal? Are there even bands playing in Milwaukee anymore?
Luckily, our very good friend and co-conspirator MARTIN ATKINS just so happens to teach at the Madison Media Institute, and thanks to him we ended up having a great meet-up that included Martin’s screenprinting workshop and mini-seminar. I was able to snag 20 copies of his latest book, “Welcome to the Music Business: You’re Fucked” along with a bunch of eBook versions of “Tour: Smart” to sell on the road. Plus — my friend Krist Krueger (who created the “Guide to Proper Postering” pamphlet that I recently posted about) just so happened to be performing in town that night, so he was able to stop by the meet-up as well. We had a great group that included people who drove from Milawukee and Chicago! We had a lot of good ideas at the meet-up, and then afterwards a bunch of us went to see Krist’s solo project Southerly at The Project Lodge, so we still got to see some live music!
Be sure to pick up a copy of Martin’s book at our merch table, and pick up a free copy of Krist’s pamphlet!

Love,
Sarah & EIY

Damn! I would have loved to sit in on that! He is awesome
Cain & Abel is a band from Menomonee Falls, WI. We are trying to get out of WI because it is one of the worst local scenes in the nation right now. Please help us out!!
