COUGH, COUGH, SNEEZE!
QUICK UPDATE FROM FOUR DAYS OFF IN FLORIDA
Wouldn’t you know it: As soon as my body realized that it was about to have four days off in a row — after three weeks straight of touring preceded by three weeks straight of working out in the desert of California at the Stagecoach, Big 4, and Coachella festivals — it said “Hell yeah! Peace out!” and left me at the mercy of what seems to be the flu. Or perhaps some kind of alien invasion of my soul, not quite sure yet.
Today we went to CVS so I could stock up on Emergen-C, vitamins, ibuprofen, OJ, water, hand sanitizer and Lysol. (I’m a hippie and I don’t believe in cold medicine; just sleep and fluids and vitamins.) Having a tour manager who is a hypochondriac means I need to spray everything I even look at with some kind of flu-killer. It also means that right now we are sitting at totally different tables at Panera, so that I don’t “breathe sickness” on him, in his own words. HA!
Unfortunately, it’s all I can do to get through some paperwork and grid organization right now without my brain imploding, so the Scene Reports are going to be delayed at least another day or two. I’m hoping by tonight I’ll get some strength back and not feel like dying, so I can at least get a couple more announcements up. I’ve got to write recaps for Pittsburgh, New York, Teaneck, Baltimore, Virginia Beach and Charlotte. Ugh… Just typing that list made my head start to hurt again. :/
In the meantime: Natalie, our Warped Tour street team manager, is going to be sending out an important message to everyone who has signed up for the Warped Tour street team so far, either at the EIY Tour or online! We are finishing adding the last of the names from New York through Charlotte, and then Natalie will be emailing each city. If you want to join the street team to promote your nearest Warped Tour date, but can’t make it out to the EIY Tour, email warpedteam@earnityourself.com.
Hmmm… what else? Oh yeah: Today is the anniversary of Jeff Buckley’s death (May 29, 1997). He was a brilliant singer/songwriter and it would behoove you to go listen to his music today. Weirdly, I woke up with one of his songs (“Last Goodbye”) in my head this morning, not yet realizing what day it was. Apparently, having the flu helps me channel dead musicians?
ACHOO,
Sarah
