Bio As a completely independent band, Toronto quintet Aberdeen has compiled an impressive list of accomplishments over their two years. With influences ranging from Incubus to Fall Out Boy to Ke$ha, Aberdeen strives to make the best pop music they can, focusing on a high quality of songwriting and a precise live show.

Aberdeen will head to Vancouver, British Colombia in February of 2010 to record their debut commercial EP with producer Tommy Mac of the multi-platinum Canadian band Hedley. The disc will contain six of the band’s best songs and is projected to release in the summer of 2010. Outside of his Hedley fame, Tommy is best known for developing, producing, and managing Canadian up-and-comers The Latency.

In late 2009, Aberdeen was cast as the house band for the Disney Film “Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam” where they worked alongside The Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato. The film will be released in the summer of 2010 and is expected to greatly expand Aberdeen’s fan base in Canada and the United States.

In mid 2009, Aberdeen recorded two singles with producer Paul Leavitt (All Time Low, Cute Is What We Aim For). These recordings are to be mastered in New York City by Michael Fossenkemper (Miles Davis, Marianas Trench, the Backstreet Boys and many more).

Aberdeen began modestly as a group of friends recording some music they had written in the city of Hamilton, Ontario, where they took their name from a nearby street. They slept on floors and in vans, as they’ve become accustomed to doing, and scrounged up the money to make it work. This attitude of doing whatever it takes has been with the band the whole way.

As an entirely independent band, Aberdeen has made some large strides over their two-year span. The boys earned a coveted spot on the 2009 Vans Warped Tour, being hand-picked to play the Kevin Says Stage, after displaying a dedicated fan following and a knack for the business. Aberdeen was crowned “Toronto’s Hometown Heroes” by the American publication Alternative Press Magazine and continue to work hard to expand into the United States. In addition, Aberdeen has completed two national tours and has appeared on Much Music, MTV, Aux TV, CBC Radio, 102.1 The Edge and 1010 CFRB, among many other radio and television stations. Only months old at the time, Aberdeen was featured in a full-length interview with George Stroumboulopoulos on The Strombo Show, broadcasting nation-wide.

Aberdeen truly values and appreciates the people that matter most to them – their fans. The boys can be seen working the room every night they play, introducing themselves to every person in the building. Each member strives to make a personal connection with listeners, by making themselves available in person at concerts and also online, on networks such as Facebook.

Aberdeen’s debut independent album “Disasters”, distributed worldwide, has nearly sold out since its release in January 2008. The disc displays Aberdeen’s attention to detail, in the form of twelve vocal-driven, harmonically rich songs, spanning genres from pop to alternative rock. As the band likes to say: “There’s something for everyone”. Through powerful lyric and potent songwriting, “Disasters” illustrates the birth, life, and death of relationships.

The driving force behind Aberdeen remains their need to write and perform music. It is said that one shouldn’t enter the music business because they want to, but because they have to. The members of Aberdeen have no desire other than to dedicate themselves entirely to the music they make and as such will do whatever it takes to propel Aberdeen forward.
