Bio Driven by passion and fueled by experience, such is the engine known as A Texas Funeral. Created not so much by the desire to create something new but rather by that of standing the test of time, this band's music can only speak for itself. In their first year, A Texas Funeral have already managed to build a consistent fan base and a regular show schedule, including dates with the likes of FUNERAL FOR A FRIEND (Victory/Ferret), THE ATARIS (Columbia), THE SLEEPING (Victory), THE FLATLINERS (Stomp), MUCH THE SAME (Nitro) and CHOKE (Smallman).

Having overcome the hurdles of sharing creative space with close to half a dozen musicians before settling on the final lineup, A Texas Funeral's story is certainly worth being told. Guitarist Pavlo Haikalis, better known from his time with local hardcore bands and as a studio engineer, originally paired up with members of what has now become Dig It Up. Inviting stranger Daniel Santiago for vocals on these sessions was certainly a blessing. Daniel's tremendous vocal power, unparalleled passion, and crooning soprano immediately caught the ear of the seasoned guitarist, and the pair formed a bond in which their partners were quickly left behind. The ambitious duo auditioned other bassists and drummers for months before finding Chris Brandel, recently freed from a well-known pop punk band. Chris' broad musical influences and inherent talent as a bassist quickly cemented the trio, but still time passed and drummers came and went. Ironically enough, the answer to all the group's problems was right in their face. Fellow musician Nick Vrettas offered to fill in on drums one night and has been with them ever since.

Now well established on the Montreal scene, A Texas Funeral has recently released their first EP, recorded at Pavlo's very own Studio 408. Blending stylings often associated with the likes of Moneen, Saosin or At The Drive-In, and adding vocal tones resembling The Strokes or The Smiths, the 8 track opus is certainly a piece of work to be accounted for.

The first single off the EP "Monochrome Rendition" has hit the montreal scene by force, with the music video being aired on MusiquePlus and the song hitting the airwaves on CJLO, 94.7 Hits FM and 99.9 The Buzz.

The band has recently begun preproduction of their first full-length album and promises that this will sound like something never heard before. A Texas Funeral will certainly make their mark on the Canadian scene in months and years to come.
